Severe storm pictures from October 1

October 2nd, 2009 Sean Toner No comments

Took these using my G1… not the best camera, but with beautiful shots like these its hard not to see the beauty. The first three are about 40 minutes before the store arrived, the last one is 30 minutes after the storm passed by.

Rainy day for the metroplex

July 27th, 2009 Sean Toner No comments

Rainy and stormy day around the metroplex as a stationary front drifts around north Texas.  The rains are likely to continue for a healthy portion of the day as well. Picture below I took out the window at work here, during a heavy thunderstorm.

Storms outside!

Extensive website downtime

June 16th, 2009 Sean Toner No comments

If you have noticed this website down for substantial amounts of time the last few weeks then trust me, you are not alone. Yet again Monday the website went down for about 5 hours due to a hosting company failure. I was using MyDomain to host this site for about a month before the site slowed to a crawl and eventually became completely inaccessible for nearly two weeks. I just moved all the content over to Dot5Hosting instead and even they went down for a good portion of the day Monday GRR. I had more reliability hosting off my little 2.7Ghz server at home with a dynamic IP than I have with PAID WEB HOSTING. Hopefully this new host will have no more troubles… I figured it was about time I got around to providing an update to why this site has been down alot.

Now for your viewing entertainment until my next weather related post, please enjoy one of my latest Flickrs:

Widespread tree damage from severe storms

This is the scene all around the Frisco Bridges area where I live and work, numerous trees down in the area. The tree limb pictured here appears to be about 8 inches in diameter, snapped at the base.

New HD camcorder for storm chasing

May 15th, 2009 Sean Toner 1 comment

My storm chasing trip begins in a few short hours! With perfect timing, I just received my new HD video recorder. Model is a Canon HF S100, with a 32gb SDHC card. This should give me about 3 hours of full HD quality recording (1920×1080) in either 60i, 30p or 24p on the card.

My new full 1080p camcorder!

Now lets just see if i can snap a tornado! This’ll be my first storm chasing trip so I hope to make the most of it.

Outdoor fun and cool birds

May 10th, 2009 Sean Toner No comments

Went to a cool park in McKinney TX today, temps were sitting around 80 degrees with dew points in the 60s. It was warm with mostly cloudy skies but otherwise not too bad. Took these pics while at the Town Lake Rec Area.

I am not sure what kind of birds these are but they were everywhere. Never got birds like these in Florida, anyone know what kind they are?
